Are you ready to rock?!! (on acoustic guitar)
Play right away. Between warm up exercises, strumming and picking techniques, and simple chord formation students jump right into the fun of making music from their very first lesson.
Learn at your own pace. Since we have students with a range of playing skills our instructors have them work in parallel, with each student practicing songs and exercises appropriate to their abilities.
Get individual attention. Our instructors are mindful to take time with each student to assess their skill level, instill correct technical habits, and find just the right music to engage their musical tastes.
Take your guitar home with you.
Extra Ed provides student-sized acoustic guitars with nylon strings to each student. Between classes students take their instruments home to practice and serenade their families (serenade optional).
Curriculum notes.
Appropriate to their age and abilities, students will be instructed in:
- • Care and handling of the instrument
- • Strumming and picking
- • Learning to read tablature
- • Introduction to chord charts
- • Introduction to techniques such as pull-offs and finger picking
- • Playing progressively challenging songs
