Photography Classes:
Looking good!
In this progressive program, our Photography Pros teach you all the tricks to set up the perfect shot. You will also build a full portfolio of pics using a variety of shot and editing techniques and photo styles. A different focus will be applied to each level of the program so you receive a full view of Photographic Arts.
Level 1: What makes a good photograph?
Students get an introduction to Photography looking at composition, basic camera functions and when to use them. We get a first taste of photo editing and learn to dissect images while making our own. During the class we learn and explore while during the week students go on a photo scavenger hunt to put their knowledge into practice.
Level 2: How can we make that photograph even better?
Here students dive deeper into the technology and photo editing options that are available to us with digital photography. Students learn different photo merging techniques while putting their previous knowledge of making a good image to the test. With weekly photo challenges that we edit in class the students learn how to make their photographs even better.
Level 3: Putting our images to use.
In this course we explore ways to put our images to use. We make fake advertisements or mock movie posters. We learn to sequence images and pair images with a purpose. Students leave the class with a set of images taken weekly that speak to a cause or product that could be ready for any online platform.
Class requirements:
- A computer where you can experience the class through Zoom.
- A smartphone/tablet/digital camera to take photos - a device different from the computer where you are watching the class.
- A cable or digital way to transfer images onto that computer.
Miniatures and Stop-Motion Class (Ages 8 and up):
Let’s explore the magic of miniature photography with a photo device. Students will learn how to create a miniature set for their characters and how to photograph it in a way that looks real. They will create their own sets and characters during and after class. We discuss how these tricks are used in film and finally put this together in our own short stop-motion films.
