Course Overview

Do you like fantasy stories? Action? Adventure? Sci-fi? Now you can learn to write those stories and more, complete with worlds, characters, and compelling storylines. Share your stories with your group and get feedback for better drafts and finalized stories you can share!

Creative Writing 1

Begin a daily writing practice, with discussion, feedback and drafts.

Creative Writing 2

Strengthen your use of language, character, dialogue, setting and plot.

Creative Writing through Reading

Examine literature and literary techniques to learn about different approaches to style, such as point of view, metaphor and tropes.

Short Fiction/Creative Non-Fiction 1

Learn the building blocks of short story writing by examining published works from great authors. Write your own short story and review the work of classmates with feedback from an experienced instructor.

Short Fiction/Creative Non-Fiction 2

Learn to write the perfect passage, the differences between fiction and non-fiction, and an emphasis on your personal style.

Memories into Stories

Explore the nature of memoir and related genres, as you translate your life experiences, memories and dreams into your voice and style.
