COURSE OVERVIEW

At Extra Ed, we believe that busy hands make happy minds, and nothing beats the satisfaction of creating something beautiful and useful with your own hands. The act of crafting is beneficial in a number of important ways: it’s shown that working with your hands hones fine motor skills, helps with learning and applying new skills, and improves concentration. Creating a craft project also helps in goal-setting, planning and problem-solving - even mathematical skills are involved in crafting!

Then, there are the psychological benefits of crafting. Crafting helps train the mind in relaxation, provides relief from stress, creates a sense of accomplishment, reduces anxiety, enhances confidence, and generally increases overall happiness!

In the Hand-Made program, participants learn a new crafting technique each week, and create their own artworks they can show off. Students learn useful life skills, have fun, and get their creative juices flowing in a welcoming, inspiring setting where experimentation and imagination are always met with enthusiasm and support.
