COURSE OVERVIEW

Get ready to explore the world of comics! Whether your child loves drawing colourful characters or has only read about them in their favourite comic books, our courses offer hands-on practice in everything from the most basic fundamentals to advanced drawing techniques. But don’t forget that there is much more to comic books than drawing. There is also storytelling, which only adds a creative (and fun!) layer to this program.

Students are divided into groups based on their skill levels. Early levels study simple and intermediate character design, learning how to create original, expressive cartoon characters. Students will also learn how to structure individual comic panels and entire pages, and study simple storytelling techniques and character dialogue to create original, visually-striking comic art. The more advanced levels delve deeper into character design and story development. They will learn how to visually express more detailed character traits and emotions, 3D drawing, and how to draw an eye-catching comic book cover.
Students will also study more sophisticated written storytelling and learn how their words can best support their new cartoon creations.

In the end, no matter what the level, over the course of the program, we aim to build a full-length comic book from conception to completion, so make room on those bookshelves!
