COURSE OVERVIEW
Extra Ed will support your language journey through conversations, games and exciting group projects at every level to encourage teamwork and have fun. Our inclusive learning environment is open to all. Students will work together through a variety of puzzles and tasks to help their team win in a challenging and motivating competition which encourages memory and practical language use. Some of the games will include Snowman (school friendly hangman), madlibs, grammar games, flash memory games, lego building and art projects in a range of topics like: coding, finance, and other life skills. Each game is designed to be a reflection of everyday situations that people can encounter for maximum learning.
Beginner ESL:
Students at this level have little to no understanding of English. Students at this level are limited in written and oral skills, but can communicate at a basic social level.
Level 1:
Students will be able to communicate in simple phrases and relate one word objects from native language to English. Students will learn how to identify everyday elements and basics of social conversation.
Level 2:
Students will be able to communicate in basic routines. They can identify essential needs and their surroundings. Students will also learn how to write simple identifications such as their name.
Intermediate ESL:
Students at this level have some understanding in English in both oral and written skills. They can participate in some social and academic conversations at grade levels and use routine words and contexts.
Level 1:
Students will be able to communicate in everyday conversations that they are familiar with. They are able to participate and contribute to conversations in social settings with some ease, and in academic settings with some support.
Level 2:
Students will be able to write simple sentences with connections to their everyday life, building to paragraphs of approximately 5 connected sentences. Students will be able to read simple passages in multiple text sources (books, newspapers, online articles, etc.)
Advanced ESL:
Students at this level are able to participate within academic and social settings with some ease. Students are able to create connections outside of common surroundings with some fluency.
Level 1:
Students will be able to engage and start conversations on a variety of topics in both academic and social settings. Students will be able to expand upon their own ideas with fluency.
Level 2
Students will be able to write in paragraphs pertaining to various content areas. Students will be able to proficiently complete academic tasks with little to no support.
