Ah Chess! The art, the science, the sport!

Why do people love Chess so much? Is it because it’s a sport people are wildly passionate about? It is because it keeps your brain active and sharp? When students learn Chess from Extra Ed’s Chess Pros, they find out its all of this and more.

Lessons are offered for 6 Skill Levels where points are earned through tournaments, fun trivia games, and mind-bending riddles. Accumulation of points and tournament participation allows players to advance to the next Chess Level and receive a Certificate.

If a student is not sure about their skill level, our Chess Pros are happy to complete an assessment.

  • Level 1 – Introduction to all aspects of the board, the game, and the pieces.
  • Level 2 – Learn how all the pieces work on a board and learn about the winning move of Checkmate.
  • Level 3 – The Pin is mightier than the sword! Students learn the tactics of pinning and skewering.
  • Level 4 – Learn En passant, all the rules surrounding Draws, and advanced Endgame theory.
  • Level 5 – Lessons are designed for advanced players knowing all the rules of Checkmate, Draws, En passant, and Castling, and for those players that play games right to the conclusion of a win, loss, or draw.
