New Programs beginning Fall 2020

Extra Ed’s Visual Arts Programs teach students how to draw, sketch, paint, and put a graphic novel together.

Our creative instructors use the latest graphics software and for paper materials to teach classic drawing techniques with modern twists, guiding students in the development and evolution of their own art forms across a variety of digital and other platforms.

Drawing and Sketching (Level 1, Level 2, Level 3)

For students holding a burning desire to fully explore and express their inner artist, Extra Ed shows them how in this technique-based Drawing and Sketching Program. Classes focus on learning how to draw lines, shapes, and patterns, and how to use shading and colouring for visual enhancement. Drawing scenarios range from pictures, still life, and personal imagination where students are encouraged to fully express themselves. Students advance to the next Level when they complete the previous course Level, moving from basic to more advanced drawing skills and techniques.

Digital Art (Level 1, Level 2, Level 3)

In this fun course, our instructors teach students how to create a full graphic novel, expressing their creative ideas in both words and images. Using both paper and digital techniques, students learn to draw facial expressions, demonstrate body language, draw creatures, and illustrate backgrounds. Stories are posted on storyboards where students learn to organize stories through frames. Students advance to the next Level when they complete the previous course Level, moving from basic to more advanced skills and digital techniques.

Comic Book/Graphic Novel Creation (Level 1, Level 2, Level 3)
