Yakos is the founder of Extra Ed. He is an entrepreneur who believes deeply in making education meaningful, accessible, and fun, and has applied this philosophy throughout his over twenty years of experience in the educational field.
Yakos also believes that good business practice and making a difference environmentally go hand in hand. He is committed to the goal of making Extra Ed exemplary when it comes to both exceptional educational programming and environmental stewardship.
Yakos lives in Toronto with his wife and children.

Maggie completed her MBA in 2006 and has been working at one of Canada’s top five banks since. She has held various roles in Commercial Lending, including areas of Business Development & Risk Management. She also has a background in Mechanical Engineering, having obtained a Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng.) degree in 2003.
Maggie generously volunteers her time to fact-check our financial literacy curricula and to ensure that all materials are accurate and up-to-date.
Jonathan serves as both an instructor and as Operations Manager for Extra Ed. He holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Windsor.......
Jonathan serves as both an instructor and as Operations Manager for Extra Ed. He holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Windsor, a Bachelor of Education from the University of Ontario Institute of Technology, and is an Ontario Certified Teacher.
Jonathan possesses over fifteen years of experience working with children in both the educational and recreational fields. He has worked with every age group, and prides himself on making laughter, creativity, and imagination the basis of his teaching philosophy. As Operations Manager, he works diligently to ensure that the often complicated scheduling and logistics of our programs is made simple, and meets the highest standard.

Jacques Katz, for whom our scholarship fund is now named, was an elementary school teacher in the TDSB for over 10 years. He was passionate about teaching children, and had a background in child development, early writing, brain research, and approaches to teaching math. He held a Bachelor of Applied Science in Computer Engineering (B.ASc.), a Bachelor of Science in Psychology (B.S.), a Master of Science in Cognitive Neuroscience (B.S.), a Master of Arts in Education (M.A.), and was an Ontario Certified Teacher (OCT).
Jacques generously volunteered his time, including and especially in his final years, to ensure that our financial literacy curricula were consistent with, and a complement to, the Ontario curriculum as set out by the Ministry of Education.

David serves as the head of Extra Ed’s popular financial literacy programs. He is responsible for teaching, training our instructors, and assisting in the development of our financial literacy curriculum.
David obtained his Masters of Teaching from the University of Toronto in 2017, and is an Ontario Certified Teacher. He loves working with children in an educational setting, and believes strongly that learning basic financial topics in school can be a key to future success.
Outside of the classroom, David is passionate about the outdoors, travel, and all things sports related.

Anna plays dual roles as financial literacy and chess instructor while also heading up Extra Ed’s environmental initiatives. She graduated from Brock University with a Bachelor of Arts in Child and Youth studies. She also holds a Bachelor of Education and is an Ontario certified teacher.
As a teacher, Anna believes in sustainable practices that are both great for the environment and fun for all ages. This translates into her practice by incorporating play and story-telling to make her students feel included and valued in the classroom.
